The Coronet Bay Sporting Village Concept

sporting images

The Sporting Village Concept proposed for the township could be described as follows:

To establish and construct a comprehensive residential resort type developments with the most needed and desired facilities and venues.

Particular emphasis will be placed on general sporting activities to promote health and fitness, combat boredom and inactivity, and provides for a carefree ambience of entertainment, community sharing and lifestyle.

This concept is particularly suited to the land for its views, location, the quiet bay waters and beach.
The high elevation and peaceful surrounds enveloped by the established township will support this concept and give it the credence and the critical mass of population to make this vibrant and viable.

The Concept

Coronet Bay Sporting Village is designed to cater for the extended family unit, from the toddlers to the grandparents.

The Club building would not only accommodate the major sporting and community activities, it will also house the administration offices and hotel accommodation for tourists and visitors.

It will also embrace the club restaurants, cafes and beer garden and include entertainment and gaming centres.

The out-door facilities would incorporate the 9 hole golf course, driving range, tennis, bowling, swimming pool etc.

Some of these facilities mentioned above will be under club membership rules, others will be restricted to Coronet Bay Ratepayers only and some will be open to the public with no restrictions at all.

Social membership will not be restricted to Coronet Bay Ratepayers only and will be open to residents of the township of Corinella and surrounding settlements.

The Potential

Coastal Estates saw the potential for this land both for its natural beauty and to satisfy the residential needs of the fast developing Dandenong corridor. Even back in 1959 the plan was to develop the land as a prime resort location - much the same time that development started for Phillip Island and Inverloch as holiday retreats for families of Melbourne and Dandenong.

The first sub-divisions of Coronet Bay were registered in the Titles Office on 14 February 1961. Approximately 600 lots were sold between the period 1961 to 1964, the further 280 lots or thereabouts, were sold between 1968 to 1972. During that time Corinella Road and Agars Road were sealed, water and electricity were installed and all sub-divisional roads were approved and constructed.

The Master Plan

The Master Plan of the development creates a variety of Lot sizes, exclusive locations and views, giving purchasers the greatest choice to meet their preferences within their financial means. The amenities and facilities are spread right through the Estate, but the majority of the venues are centralised at the hub of the sub-division which will contain the clubhouse the civil, health, community and commercial centres.

The commercial facilities areas will include the pro-shop, medical centres, hotel accommodation, dining rooms and bistro plus the mini-supermarket and specialty village stores.

The existing township community needs an injection of younger members to balance the great predominance of older aged residents. Generally the Bass Coast Shire has twice the proportional number of older residents to the rest of Victoria. The Sporting Village concept will act as a leveller to restore the population demographic balance at Coronet bay.

Further particulars of the Facilities to be established in the Sporting Village will be added in the next release of our website.
